General

What do I need to reserve a car?

You will need to complete the online form which requires you to:

  • Enter basic details about yourself.
  • Hold a full driver’s licence from an Australian state or territory for at least 12 months.
  • Hold an Australian Business Number (ABN).

You will then:

  • Provide your credit card details to cover your first rental payment and bond. Your credit card will be charged at the time of collecting the car.
  • Pay the joining fee.
  • Your reservation is subject to being approved as an Ola driver. 

ORIX will:

  • Provide you with car and inspection certificate details for your Ola application.

How much does it cost?

The cost to rent an ORIX rideshare-ready car is as follows:

Rideshare-ready vehicle From $195/week. GST inclusive.
Minimum rental period 1 week.
Joining fee $149 GST inclusive

Rental payment

1 week in advance, charged in one-week blocks. If you return the car early, you will still be charged the weekly rental period. Note, you can return the car at any time. Weekly block payments are not prorated.

Bond

The bond amount of $500 (GST inclusive) will be released or deducted from outstanding charges at termination of the hire. 

Weekly Km limit

Weekly kilometre limits starting at 1,000km's. 15 cents per excess km.

What’s included in my rental cost?

Your ORIX rideshare-ready car includes, car registration, comprehensive insurance, routine service and maintenance, fair wear and tear, 24/7 roadside assistance.

What is not included in the rental cost?

  • Road tolls and any toll administration fees
  • Fuel
  • Parking and traffic fines
  • Loss or damage to your passengers’ possessions
  • Parking charges
  • Damage or loss of the car that is excluded from being covered by our insurance – See Product Disclosure Statement for more information. 
  • Other fees that may arise during your rental.

Is there a joining fee?

There is a $149 GST inclusive joining fee. 

Do I need a good credit history to join ORIX?

There are no credit checks performed by ORIX. However, you need to have an active Ola driver account number before we can release the car.  

Do I need an Australian Licence to rent a car? 

You must have held a full driver’s licence from an Australian state or territory for at least 12 months.

Do I need an ABN to use ORIX?

Yes. Drivers must have an Australian Business Number (ABN).

How long does it take to arrange a car?

ORIX requires minimum notice of 24 hours during business days, excluding public holidays.

How does ORIX compare with traditional rental products?

ORIX is competitively priced and provides more flexibility.

Where can I collect an ORIX rideshare-ready rental car from?

Cars are available from the following locations:

  • ORIX's head office at 1 Eden Park Drive, Macquarie Park, NSW 2113 from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 3.00pm AEST (Excluding public holidays).
  • ORIX - 26 Memorial Avenue, Ingleburn, NSW 2565 from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 3.00pm AEST (Excluding public holidays).
  • ORIX - 779 Kingsford Smith Dr, Eagle Farm, QLD 4009 from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 3.00pm AEST (Excluding public holidays). 
  • ORIX - 88 Grindle Road, Rocklea QLD 4106 from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 3.00pm AEST (Excluding public holidays). 
  • ORIX - 5-13 Hartley Street, Garbutt, QLD 4814 from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 3.00pm AEST (Excluding public holidays).

Are the cars registered?

Yes.  All ORIX rental cars are fully registered and covered by comprehensive insurance for rideshare use. Please see Product Disclosure Statement for more information.

Does the rental payment include insurance?

Yes, ORIX rental cars are fully insured and covered by comprehensive insurance for rideshare use with an excess of $2,000. For more information regarding insurances, you can view the Product Disclosure Statement

Are there any excess charges? 

There is an excess of $2,000. For more information regarding insurances, you can view the Product Disclosure Statement.

There is something not right with my car, who do I call?

You will need to contact ORIX on 1800 314 514 to arrange a service or repair appointment at a dealership approved by ORIX.

When you submit your car for servicing, replacement batteries, tyres or windscreens, please clearly state that your car is an ORIX managed car.

The dealership or service agent will then contact the ORIX National Service Centre for authorisation to carry out maintenance or repairs and will send the invoice directly to ORIX.

Is roadside assistance included?

Yes, roadside assistance is included in your rental payment. If the car breaks down, ORIX’s 24/7 roadside support will help you with towing, battery, and flat tyres. You will need to call 1800 314 514.

What if I’m in an accident?

If you are involved in an accident, it is important that you follow the correct procedure. These simple steps will assist you at the scene of an accident:

  1. Determine whether any passenger in your car or the other car/s has suffered any personal injury. 
  2. For Police, Ambulance or Fire and Rescue call 000 or 112 from your mobile phone. 
  3. Do not admit liability or offer payment to any party concerned. 
  4. Give your name, address, licence number, registration number and insurance details to the other people involved in the accident. Obtain similar details from them.
  5. Make every effort to find a witness to the accident and obtain their details. 
  6. Take notes/photos of the accident scene, cross streets, the direction of travel, car damage and so on, as this information will help you complete an insurance claim form.
  7. Police reporting guidelines vary in each state. Make sure you are aware of your requirements.
  8. Report the accident to ORIX as soon as possible and in any event within 24 hours. 

You can contact ORIX on 1800 314 514 to support you with the following: 

•    Towing from the scene and insurance claims assistance
•    Pick up of roadworthy cars needing repair
•    Accessing an interim replacement car
•    Arrange car repairs.

What do I do if I have damaged the car?

If the car is lost, stolen, abandoned or damaged during the rental period, you will need to contact ORIX on 1800 314 514.

How quickly can I obtain a car?

Subject to availability, ORIX requires a minimum notice of 24 hours during business days, excluding public holidays. 

How much mileage is included?

Kilometre limits from 1,000km's, 1,500km's and 2,000km's available. ​​​​​15 cents per excess km.

Can I use my own toll tag? 

You must arrange your own toll tag and fit the tag to your rental car. Any toll charges, including any administration fees charged by the toll provider, incurred by you when renting an ORIX car on any Australian toll road will be charged to you.

 

Payments

When do I provide my credit card details for payment?

Once a reservation has been created, an email containing a secure link to an eWay credit card portal will be sent to you. You will need to enter your credit card details to secure the car reservation. Your credit card will be charged at the time of collecting the car.

Do I get charged monthly or weekly?

You will be charged weekly in advance. 

Do I need to pay a bond?

Yes, the bond is $500 GST inclusive. The bond amount will be released or deducted from outstanding charges at the termination of the hire.

How do I change my payment method?

You will need to contact ORIX on 1800 314 514 to update your credit card details. 

How much is the late charge? 

A two-hour return grace period will apply. If a car is returned late, beyond the two-hour grace period, ORIX will charge one week's rental payment in full (no refund). Important to note, latest car collection time is from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 3.00pm (Excluding Public Holidays). 

Do I get charged a fee if I miss a payment? 

A charge of $44 GST inclusive will apply for missed or rejected payments.

Insurance excess
All cars are covered with comprehensive insurance for ride-share use with an excess of $2,000 per incident. 

Refueling fee $33 GST inclusive. Plus a recharge of the local pump rate for the fill.
Cleaning fee

Cleaning charges may apply on return of the vehicle if cleaning is required to bring the vehicle back to a serviceable condition. For example, charges will apply for cleaning of odours such as smoke smells, or stains from drinks, oil, vomit etc.

Video tolling Any toll charges, including administration fees, incurred by you when renting an ORIX car on any Australian toll road will be charged to you.

Infringements If we receive an infringement notice incurred during your rental period, the notice will be sent to you at the address you provided us. A $16.50 administration fee applies per infringement notice.

Collecting the car

What do I need to provide when collecting the car?

You will need to show your;

  • Full driver’s licence from an Australian state or territory
  • The relevant driver accreditation/authorisation from the state you plan to operate rideshare in
  • Credit card in your name for the payment of the rental
  • Two proofs of your current address. E.g. driver's licence, utility invoice, phone bill etc.

Am I responsible for properly maintaining the car?

As a rideshare driver, you are responsible for making sure that your car is kept in top condition, warranty conditions are complied with and that safety checks such as tyre pressure and tread depth, oil and coolant levels are conducted regularly.

At the appropriate intervals, ORIX will contact you to arrange a service and repair appointment at a dealership approved by ORIX. 

When you submit your car for servicing, replacement batteries, tyres or windscreens, please clearly state that your car is an ORIX managed car.

If the car is lost, stolen, abandoned or damaged during the rental, you will need to contact ORIX on 1800 314 514.

The dealership or service agent will then contact the ORIX National Service Centre for authorisation to carry out maintenance or repairs and will send the invoice directly to ORIX.

A replacement car is provided for when your car is booked in for a service, subject to availability.

Do I need to pay for fuel?

Yes. You will need to cover your fuel expenses. 

Can I choose a weekend day to collect my car?

Weekend collections are unavailable. Cars can be collected from:

  • ORIX's head office at 1 Eden Park Drive, Macquarie Park, NSW 2113 from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 3.00pm AEST (Excluding public holidays).

Can I request a friend to collect the car?

No. You must collect the car. You will need to present your current driver licence.

Who can I contact if I’m unable to collect the car?

You will need to contact ORIX on 1800 314 514 if you are unable to collect the car.

 

Returning the car

What do I need to know before I return the car?

When you return the car, please ensure:

  • You return the car, keys and any items that were supplied with the car
  • The car contains a full tank of petrol
  • The car is cleaned inside and outside, and that all rubbish has been removed
  • All belongings are removed.

Any damage to the car and to other peoples' cars, will be covered. Refer to the Insurance PDS for standard exclusions.

Cleaning charges may apply on return of the car if cleaning is required to bring the car back to a serviceable condition.

Do I need to fill up the petrol tank before I return the car?

Yes, you will need to return the car with a full tank of petrol. 

Do I need to clean the car before I return it?

Yes. Cleaning charges may apply on return of the vehicle if cleaning is required to bring the vehicle back to a serviceable condition. For example, charges will apply for cleaning of odours such as smoke smells, or stains from drinks, oil, vomit etc.

Can I return the car if I change my mind or before the due date?

Yes. If you return the car early, you will still be charged the weekly rental period. Note, you can return the car at any time. Weekly block payments are not prorated.

Can I request a friend to return the car?

No. You must return the car. 

Do I get charged a fee if I didn’t refuel the car before returning it? 

Yes. You will be charged $33.00 plus a recharge of the local pump rate for the fill.

Is there a grace period upon return?

We allow a two-hour grace period to return the car without being charged an extra week’s rental payment, otherwise you will incur a full week rental payment.
